Young beginners
First contact with the instrument: keyboard geography, rhythm games, and simple songs learned by ear and by sight. Short lessons, because attention is the real limit at this age. Parents are welcome to sit in.

The studio
In written music, a fermata tells the performer to hold a note past its printed value — to let it live a moment before moving on. It is the studio's namesake because that is how the teaching works here: no student is rushed past something they have not yet felt.
Monica Celdran has taught piano for 15 years, first at a conservatory preparatory program and now from her home studio in Katy. She holds a master's degree in music, and has prepared students for school auditions and the studio's twice-yearly recitals.
Lessons are one-to-one and unhurried. New students begin with the physical ease of playing — posture, hand shape, a steady pulse — long before difficulty enters the picture. Students who arrive with experience get a plan built around the repertoire they came for.
Lessons
Length and focus are set after a first meeting — never assigned by age alone.
First contact with the instrument: keyboard geography, rhythm games, and simple songs learned by ear and by sight. Short lessons, because attention is the real limit at this age. Parents are welcome to sit in.
A full curriculum — technique, sight-reading, theory, and repertoire chosen together with the student. Classical grounding, but a student who wants to play film themes or pop arrangements will play them.
For absolute beginners and for returning players picking the instrument back up after years away. No recital requirement, no comparison to anyone else's timeline. Progress is measured against the piece you wanted to play when you walked in.
Homeschooling families are welcome. Weekday lessons start at 10 am, so piano can fit into the school day instead of waiting until after it.
Students perform twice a year at the studio's winter and spring recitals. Performing is encouraged and never required — some students take three years to want an audience, and that is a perfectly good pace.

Reviews
Our son has been taking piano lessons with her for a year, and we couldn't be happier with how much he has progressed. It's beautiful to watch him develop his skills, gain confidence, and enjoy music more and more. … She is a teacher with great patience, dedication, and love for what she does.
She always helped me identify places I could improve and gave me specific methods I could use to do so. I also loved how she allowed me to pick my own pieces to play alongside pieces she would choose. … While she is serious about making sure her students improve, she also cares about how they are doing.
Monica is a great piano instructor and wonderful human being. She is kind, patient, and intentional with her students. She always kept an open dialogue and was willing to work with our busy family schedules. We are forever grateful for her and our entire family loves her. Highly recommended to anyone looking to build their music skills!
My favorite thing about her as a piano teacher is her patience! She is so kind and understanding with my daughter, and she always finds a way to help her move forward and keep learning at her own pace. … We feel very lucky to have found a teacher who truly cares about her students and wants to see them succeed!
Our oldest granddaughter started piano lessons with her at age 6, and today, at 14, she plays beautifully. … Meanwhile, our little Isabella, who is 5, has been taking lessons for just 3 months. She was the one who insisted we sign her up, because she is so excited to learn to play the piano like her sister.
Questions
An instrument to practise on, yes — but it does not have to be an acoustic piano. A weighted, full-size digital keyboard with 88 keys and a sustain pedal is enough for the first several years. Monica is glad to look at a listing before you buy.
From three, though readiness matters more than age. A child who can sit with an adult for twenty minutes and follow a two-step instruction is usually ready. The trial lesson exists to answer exactly this.
Yes — over FaceTime or WhatsApp, with a second camera angle on the keyboard. Online works well for teenagers and adults. For young beginners, in-person is strongly preferred: hand position is hard to correct through a screen.
Let Monica know at least 24 hours ahead and the lesson is rescheduled within the same month where the calendar allows. Lessons missed without notice are not made up — the time was reserved.
Yes. Lessons, messages, and recital notes are all available in English or Spanish, whichever a family prefers.
